Big announcement coming from O'boro Convention Center

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Officials are making a big announcement about the Owensboro Convention Center later today.

It's taking place at Owensboro RV on West Parrish Avenue at 11 a.m.

Few specifics have been revealed so far, but staff members say that it deals with a new expo that's going to take place at the Convention Center next year.

They predict that the event will be a success and have a positive economic impact on Owensboro's constantly growing and thriving community.

Several city leaders will speak at the announcement, including Convention Center General Manager Dean Dennis and Mayor Ron Payne.

At the construction site, crews have been finishing up roof work over the past few weeks.

That should be done by the middle of the month.

After that, crews will start installing glass and turn to some of the interior work.

As of right now, the Convention Center's scheduled to open in January.

We'll bring you more specifics about the announcement later today, so be sure to stay with us on air and on 14news.com.
