WABASH CO., IL (WFIE) -

A body was pulled from the waters of the Wabash River Monday night.

It was located around 5:00 Monday evening just north of Mt. Carmel, near the community of Patton.

Wabash County Sheriff Joe Keeling confirms to 14 News it is the body of a male and it had been in the river for a while. No identity has been confirmed at this time.

Keeling says a camp site owner spotted the body and called authorities. Dive crews then pulled the body out of the river.

Right now, police are calling family members to make a positive ID.
