Another round of renovations is complete at the Casino Aztar Hotel in Downtown Evansville.
The lobby had been heavy on brass features and General Manager Ward Shaw says it was really just outdated.
So far with outdoor improvements, room renovations that wrapped up around New Years, the lobby and some mechanical updates, Shaw says it's cost more than $7 million.
That times out nicely with the upcoming rebranding the hotel plans to do in mid-June when switching from Casino Aztar to Tropicana Evansville.
"I think we've gotten the property to the point now where we feel good about repositioning it to our customers and saying basically, 'if you haven't been here for a while, you need to come check us out because we're really making the facility better.' We've made several service improvements on our casino floor, and so this is a good time to kind of do that rebranding," Shaw said.
They aren't finished yet. Plans are to renovate the second level of the lobby and some meeting rooms in the next couple of months, as well as do some restaurant updates.
