Protesters again gathered at Detroit City Hall in opposition to the appointment of emergency manager Kevyn Orr by the state. But this time they made it closer to his office.
The Detroit Free Press and WXYZ-TV report that a few dozen people were able Monday afternoon to reach the 11th floor of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center where they demanded to see Orr and Mayor Dave Bing.
The same group staged a sit-in Thursday on the building's first floor. The group says Orr's appointment violates the voting rights of Detroit residents.
On Monday, the group sang and chanted for about an hour before leaving.
Monday marks Orr's first full week on the job. He is tasked with fixing the city's $327 million budget deficit and long-term debt.
