KENTUCKY (WFIE) -

A Western Kentucky war veteran was presented with five service medals, 60-years after he left the Army.

Henry Leach was wounded by enemy forces while serving in the Army during the Korean War.

Much of his file was lost in a fire at the National Personnel Records Center 40-years ago.

Recently a document was given to Kentucky Congressman Brett Guthrie's office that proved Leach earned those medals.

Leached receive the Purple Heart on Friday, more than 60-years after his injuries.

"It takes me almost 50-years to get them, but I'm glad to get them and I'm proud of everyone one of them," says Leach.

Leach also says he plans to keep his medals and show them to his family and neighbors.
