EPD reaches settlement after 2 years with risky traffic stop

A settlement has been reached between the city of Evansville, a former police officer, and a woman that officer pulled over in the summer of 2011.

Dave Fehrenbacher made a traffic stop without a cause and made inappropriate comments to Courtney Taylor in 2011.

Per the settlement which was approved by the city's Safety Board, Taylor will receive $25,000 from the city.

The agreement cites allegations that were raised involving that stop and the interactions between former Officer Fehrenbacher and Taylor.

This agreement means the parties involved will avoid litigation.

The specific circumstances surrounding that traffic stop are not detailed in the settlement agreement.

14 News requested copies of any documents with information about disciplinary actions or investigations involving Fehrenbacher, but city attorney's say because of Indiana Law and the city's Collective Bargaining Agreement, they can't be released without his consent.
