3 bench players leaving Illinois

Illinois basketball coach John Groce says three reserve players will transfer after this semester.

Groce said Friday that sophomores Mike Shaw and Ibby Djmide and redshirt freshman Devin Langford have asked for and been given permission to transfer. It isn't known yet where they will go.

Groce said the three are "first-class" representatives of the university.

Langford is an Alabama native who came off the bench 22 times. He averaged half a point a game. Shaw played in 14 games off the bench. The Chicago product averaged just under a point a game. Djimde made 11 appearances off the bench. The forward from Mali scored two total points.

The transfers free up three scholarships but mean just four scholarship players off this season's NCAA Tournament team will return.
