West siders pack meeting, concerned about proposed mixed-use development

Posted: Updated:

West side residents concerned about a proposed mixed-use development along University Parkway packed into the Vanderburgh County Commission Chambers on Tuesday.

Commission President Marsha Abell said since the item wasn't on the agenda, only one person from the group could speak for only two minutes.

The group's spokesperson handed the commission a list of questions and concerns that included more than the Majestic Place development.

Abell said at this time it would be inappropriate for the commission to comment.

"I'm just asking for you to give me one more minute to tell me what it is you would like to do about what I just gave you," the group's spokesperson said.

"We will address this as we go along through Area Planning Commission. That's what we do. This is not about... meeting is over," Abell said.

Some opponents say they will take their concerns to Wednesday night's traveling city hall meeting.
