Thousands get colorful for disability awareness

Posted: Updated:

Thousands of people were blasted with colored powder Saturday morning in Owensboro.

More than 4,200 runners and walkers participated in the Color Blast 5K Race. The runners started in English Park and ran through the city of Owensboro.

Registration fees from the event will go to six local organizations that provide services for special needs children.

"It was just, there were so many people there cheering for you all along the way. People outside of their houses. It's just a good motivational experience and also a fun time with the color," participant Iszack Whitsell said.

Runners and walkers celebrated at the end of the race with an after party that had music and entertainment.
