EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
If a robot asked you to do CPR, would you?
That's exactly the questions some people walking through Casino Aztar got on Friday.
AMR had it's robot, Alex chasing down unsuspecting passers by on their way through Aztar.
"Alex will actually kind of follow you," says Melody Fletcher with AMR. "And start asking you questions."
Some people looked bewildered at the little robot who was talking to them.
Others got a kick out of it.
"It's really fun, they are actually trying to look for me, and find the voice of Alex," says Fletcher.
Melody was that voice, but she was hidden behind a coat closet where people couldn't see her.
The idea behind this exercise was to get people's attention by using a weird gimmick, in this case a talking robot.
Once people agreed to help Alex out.
They were taught how to do compression to the beat of the song "Staying Alive," by Bee Gees.
"It's to have people aware that you can save someone's life and help their chances of survival just by doing compressions," says Fletcher.
The American Heart Association has put this event on in other areas cities and has used people in gorilla and Santa suits as well
