Two Henderson businesses looking to merge

Posted: Updated:
HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) -

A possible merger was announced on Thursday to promote commerce and attract more business and jobs to the area.

The partnership is between the Henderson Chamber and Northwest Kentucky Forward.

Brad Schneider, the President of Henderson-Henderson County Chamber of Commerce says Northwest Kentucky Forward suggested that merger last fall and several local business leaders liked the idea.

Schneider says plans are still in the works for the possible merger.

He says the organization would most likely have a new name.

He also tells us that it would mean better use of resources and branding, allowing the organizations to work even harder to improve economic development in the area.

Schneider's been named the CEO of both organizations for now.

"They're much more on the same page," says Schneider. "They're not working in different directions or cross purposes. They don't duplicate efforts. Much more efficient. And that's one of the things we're aiming for and it helps knit the community closer together. They don't have competing interests. It helps make the money go farther that's invested in these organizations. So, there are a lot of benefits that way."

Schneider says a merger committee has formed.

They present plans for a merger to both organizations by mid-summer for approval.

Schneider tells if the merger is approved, it could be in place by the end of this year.
