BRIDGEPORT, IL (WFIE) -

A Vincennes, Indiana man pled guilty to making false statements to the FBI.

63-year-old Paul Kramer was indicted, along with a the former mayor of Bridgeport, Illinois, back in November. 

At his plea on Wednesday, Kramer told the judge he lied to agents about the rental of a backhoe for the city of Bridgeport. Kramer said the invoice was prepared for him by the mayor of Bridgeport, Max Schauf.

Schauf is no longer mayor of Bridgeport, and faces federal charges of mail fraud and obstructing justice for allegedly submitting false invoices, contracts and bills for services and equipment, then took a portion of the money for personal use.

Kramer will be sentenced in June.
