Troopers say they detected an odor of marijuana inside the residence when 29-year-old Christine Jackson answered the door.

After troopers obtained a search warrant for the home, they found marijuana, paraphernalia and a box that contained equipment commonly used to cultivate marijuana.

The homeowners, Jackson and 32-year-old Shawn Smith were arrested and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail where they are currently being held without bond.

They are charged with Neglect of a Dependant- Class D Felony, Maintaining a Common Nuisance- Class D Felony, Possession of Marijuana- Class A Misdemeanor, and Possession of Paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanor

State police say the couple's five-year-old daughter was there at the time. The Division of Family and Children Services was contacted and the child was released to a family member.
