City of Petersburg a finalist for Stellar Grant

The city of Petersburg is a finalist for a Stellar Grant.

The program awards money to a chosen city based on plans for improving the community. Petersburg's plan includes building a bypass around downtown to keep large truck traffic away, as well as numerous projects to revitalize the downtown area.

Petersburg's mayor believes that if they win, the money would do great things for the city.

"It brings the desire of people outside of our community to come here and live. We're going to have different retail shops and different things going on downtown, and like all other towns, we want to bring more people to the downtown area," Mayor Frank Coleman said.

Representatives from the community will go to a meeting of finalists in Indianapolis on March 21st.
