Hundreds gathered on Franklin St. for St. Patrick's Day

It might have been be colder outside Saturday night, but that didn't stop thousands of people taking part in a St. Patrick's bar crawl.

They get enjoyed some green beer while the businesses pulled in some green of their own.

Hundreds were expected to flock to the bars Saturday night on Franklin Street to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. That's thanks in large part to a very cheap transportation option.

The Franklin Street Events Association organized a Franklin Street bar crawl for Mardi Gras last month. Since that event was so successful, they organized a similar crawl for a St. Patrick's Day celebration.

Bars and restaurants on Franklin Street had Irish-themed drink and meal specials and continued Sunday.

Event organizer Leah Spivey says for just $5, you didn't even have to walk between the bars.

"It's called the Pink Elephant Celebrations Bus, and people can ride for $5. There's wristbands available at multiple locations, the participating bars in particular and PG over here, they're an art gallery. But they can buy them for $5, and they can get up and down the street," Spivey said.

The bus carried people all throughout the night until 3:00 a.m. in the morning.
