Several Tri-State communities will have to wait a little longer to find out if there still in the running for a state honor that comes with some big money.

Mt. Vernon, Chandler, Jasper, and Petersburg are among 24 Indiana cities and towns hoping to become Stellar Communities.

That field should be narrowed to 10 finalists sometime in the upcoming week.

The Stellar Communities program helps fund community development projects.

Last year, Princeton was one of two winners and will receive millions of dollars from the state to be used over the next few years.
