Art gallery grand opening offers a mythical adventure

There's a new art gallery opening up in Evansville this weekend.

P.G. is located on the west side of town and it's grand opening is Friday evening.

P.G. stands for Pupienus's Glove. There's actually a really cool story behind it. While the owner was renovating, he found some wallpaper in the bathroom.

It had an emperor on it, and the owner was so intrigued by that he started doing research and found the emperor's name was Pupienus, but there was no information about this emperor.

The owner thought that was so cool, he made it the namesake of his new gallery. 

The grand opening is Friday evening at 7 p.m., they're still setting up for it, but it is free and open to the public.

The owner tells us he plans on having a new art exhibit every month, this first one will be mythical themed.

There will be live music from several bands including Ewokie Talkie, Sans Duke Zach Zint and more.

    Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says a group met with a project consultant and some think Roberts Park might be the perfect location. There's plenty of space and with other sporting facilities near the site, could be used to attract out of town swimming tournaments.
