OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - The Daviess County Emergency Management Agency will hold a basic Search and Rescue training course this weekend that involves responders from all over the state.
The course will take place at the National Guard Armory just off of Tamarack Road in Owensboro.
The goal of the course is to give guidance to search and rescue field responders on the best strategies and techniques for finding missing people.
They'll talk about some of the latest search techniques and how to use speciality teams.
The class will start Friday at 6 p.m. and last through Sunday.
On Saturday night, a simulated search will take place so that participants can get a feel for an actual search and rescue situation.
During that time, the students will be divided into teams and get to practice what they've learned earlier in the day.
The course is open to all emergency organizations that are responsible for searching for lost or missing people.
Responders from all over Kentucky will be traveling to Owensboro for this course that looks at the latest in helping missing people.
