Support still pouring in for Spencer Co. teen battling Leukemia

Isaac Gogel Isaac Gogel

14-year-old Isaac Gogel, who inspired the phrase Isaacstrong, is back home for a short break from chemotherapy treatments in Louisville.

Isaac's dad says Isaac is looking good and doing well. Unfortunately this fight is not over yet.

Isaac and his dad tell 14 News that visits in the hospital will likely get longer from this point on, but the important thing right now is being home.

Isaac was enjoying a little well-deserved R & R when 14 News stopped by Wednesday afternoon.

He's now completed two cycles of chemo and has at least two more to go. Isaac and his family are thinking they'll be back at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville to start treatments once again by the end of next week.

The Gogel family has received a lot of support so far, people buying Isaacstrong T-shirts and sending positive messages through the Isaac Strong Facebook page, that now has in the neighborhood of 142,000 likes.

Since his diagnosis two months ago, Isaac's dad says his son's handled things well.

"Isaac has definitely lived up to his 'Isaacstrong' on there. He's been fantastic. His attitude's been great. There was never any doubt in his mind he was going to get out of there. He's been fantastic on that," Isaac's dad, Paul Gogel said.

The Gogel family wants to thank everyone who's been supporting them.

T-shirts and window decals are still available.

On Sunday, March 24th, you can buy dinner at the St. Joseph Parish Center in Dale or the Old Tyme Liquors in Santa Claus to benefit the Gogel family.
