Homicide: Indiana man dies from '80 shooting injuries

The death of a Fort Wayne man who was shot while riding his bicycle more than 30 years ago has been ruled a homicide.

The Allen County coroner's office says 53-year-old David Allan Thornsley died at St. Joseph Hospital in the northeast Indiana city.

Thornsley was 20 years old when he was shot while riding his bicycle in Fort Wayne about 2 a.m. on July 10, 1980. Since then, he had been a paraplegic. He died from complications due to the gunshot wounds.

Thornsley was shot twice in the back with a .22 caliber rifle.

Police had no immediate suspects. Residents said they saw a white van speed away from the area where Thornsley was shot.
