Cast aside in Baltimore's salary purge, linebacker Paul Kruger is excited about a new start with the Cleveland Browns.

Kruger, who led the Super Bowl-champion Ravens in sacks last season, was introduced Wednesday by the Browns, who entered free agency more than $47 million under the salary cap and have spent the first two days restocking their defense. Kruger signed a five-year $40 million contract.

Kruger was a part-time player in Baltimore, where he was surrounded by dynamic players with dynamic personalities. The 27-year-old wants to be a leader in Cleveland and said "leaving Baltimore gives you a chance to step out of a couple shadows."

Kruger said he's been surprised by many of the moves made by the Ravens. Kruger had a breakout season in 2010 with 13½ sacks.
