Evansville Police have arrested 53-year-old Joseph Floyd on several charges after responding to a "domestic violence in progress" call on the 1300 block of  W. Delaware.

A group of people were hanging out in the apartment when Floyd apparently got angry about something. When his wife and several other people tried to leave, they say Floyd became violent.

Floyd is accused of assaulting one of the women there, and pushing her down the front porch steps.

Floyd went back into the apartment, shut the door, and reportedly began hitting his wife.

They say Floyd kept her from leaving the apartment until officers began arriving at the scene.

At that point, his wife was able to get out of the apartment and tell officers what had happened.

Floyd locked the doors and would not allow officers to enter.

His wife gave officers permission to force entry.

Officers kicked in the door and took Floyd into custody.

He was arrested on a felony criminal confinement charge, a felony domestic violence charge, and a misdemeanor battery charge.
