Identity released of South Spencer student killed in wreck

Authorities in Spencer County say an 18-year-old student has been killed in a traffic accident near the high school.

Officials say it happened around noon at the intersection in front of South Spencer High School, Hwy 66 and Orchard Rd, near the town of Reo.

They say the vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Jacob Hamilton, was hit broadside by a semi. The semi was traveling westbound on SR 66 and Hamilton's vehicle pulled out into the path of the semi.

Spencer County Coroner Robert Fuller tells us Hamilton died at the scene of the crash.
