A plea deal in the case of a former Evansville Boy Scout Executive on child pornography charges.

33-year-old Ryan Bieler pleaded guilty to multiple counts of possessing and receiving child pornography.

The investigation extends far beyond southwestern Indiana. As 14 News first reported, officials were investigating an international distributor of child pornography and say Bieler was a subscriber.

They say the sexually explicit material was mailed to his home in Ireland, Indiana in Dubois County.

Bieler pled guilty to one count of possession of sexually explicit material involving minors and four counts of receiving sexually explicit material involving minors.

Officials say the material was found on two computers and numerous DVDs at his home. They say they did not find images of local children.

U.S. Attorney Joseph Hogsett says the emphasis is on catching those who receive and possess child pornography before they become producers.

"Vigilance is important in these types of cases because we want to make sure that whatever interests individuals have in the sexually explicit images of children do not lead them to take that next step and victimize local children," Hogsett said.

Officials say Bieler is facing up to 10 years in prison.
