OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Choir students from Kentucky Wesleyan College returned to Owensboro Monday evening after their bus crashed Sunday night.

Family, friends, and staff gathered at KWC Monday evening to welcome home their choir students after officials say faulty brakes caused their bus to crash Sunday night.

"We're glad to be back," KWC student, Madison McKinney said.

Madison McKinney is a music education junior at KWC. She says her favorite part about singing is the personal connection she feels with the audience when performing.

McKinney says she is happy she and her friends are safely back in Owensboro.

"I'm from North Carolina. I already talked to my mom. She knows we're all safe," McKinney said.

Kent Lewis, the Chaplin at KWC says the choir came together and comforted one another after the bus accident.

"The choir, the only way to describe it is we're a family. Especially after this weekend, everyone just pulled together and we're so grateful to have one another," McKinney said.

The remaining concerts on the choir's tour have been canceled, but they will all be singing together at a concert in Owensboro later in March.
