John Legend, Tuohy family to speak in Evansville

Posted: Updated:

The City of Evansville has announced this year's speakers for the city's Diversity Distinguished Lectures.

They include nine-time Grammy Award winning artist and philanthropist, John Legend, on Tuesday April 23.

The real-life couple who inspired the movie The Blind Side, Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy will speak on September 26.

The lectures are free and will be held at The Centre. There will also be a sign language and English-Spanish translator.

"Young people come, older people come. People from all walks of life, and to the extent that we as community leaders can bring people together to talk about our differences, I think it helps to create a stronger future for our community," Mayor Lloyd Winnecke said.

The Diversity series has been going on now for more than 10 years. Previous speakers included Queen Latifah, Magic Johnson and Lisa Ling.
