Today, March 29, is the deadline for victims of lending discrimination to take action and see if some cash could be headed their way.
The Department of Justice and Countrywide Financial Corporation reached a $335 million settlement over discriminatory lending practices.
U.S. attorney Joseph Hogsett says investigators believe alleged discriminatory lending practices affected more than 1300 African Americans and Latinos in Indiana and Kentucky.
If you are African American or Latino and got a mortgage loan through Countrywide between 2004 and 2008, you could get anywhere between $3,000 and $20,000.
If you believe you are a victim of the alleged lending discrimination by Countrywide, you should contact the independent Settlement Administrator, Rust Consulting, by calling 1-800-843-5148 or by email at info@CWFLSettlement.com.
