OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Thousands of people in Western Kentucky are being forced to change their doctors.

Wellcare of Kentucky has told Owensboro Health they will cancel their contract with the hospital effective April 1.

Hospital officials say there was a disagreement in how Wellcare was being paid.

Owensboro Health says they will be able to help Wellcare patients find new doctors.

"What we are doing starting today is financial counselors at the Owensboro Regional Health Hospital and at the Owensboro Business Center on Fredrica Street are available to help people fill out paper work and fill out letters if they want to change their manage care organization." says Gordon Wilkerson, a spokesperson for Owensboro Health.

Owensboro Health says they will not turn away any patient during a medical emergency.
