HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) -

A truck from Southern States in Clay, KY. carrying a liquid nitrogen was traveling on Dalton Rd. in Hopkins County and flipped over.

Madisonville Fire Department responded to the spill and rescued the driver who was trapped inside the truck.

He is going to Baptist Health to be treated.

The liquid nitrogen that was spilled from the truck is used in mildly corrosive fertilizer.

Authorities say 2000-2500 gallons of the liquid nitrogen leaked from the truck and is now empty.

The EPA gave the go ahead to wash it off of the road and the Richland Fire Department cleaned up the chemical off the road.
