VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office has announced a widespread crackdown on drinking or driving that will begin on Friday.

They call it a "high-visibility crackdown on impaired and dangerous driving known as 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.'"

The crackdown will last 16 days through March 24. That, of course, will be in place for March sporting events and the St. Patrick's Day holiday.

The Sheriff's Office, along with the Evansville Police Department and the Indiana State Police plan to use high-visibility efforts, consisting of sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and other methods designed to detect impaired drivers.

The checkpoint this weekend is set to take place between 11:30 PM and 2:30 AM.
