EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Crossroads Christian Church in Newburgh is expanding. The church is opening up a new ministry center on Evansville's west side.

That ministry center will be along St. Joe Avenue at Bismark, just across the street from Helfrich Golf Course.

The Senior Associate Pastor at Crossroads, Todd Bussey, says the idea is to make some of the ministries Crossroads offers more convenient for members who live on the west side of town.

The new location won't offer weekend services, but will provide things like men's and women's ministry and some children's programs during the week, a few days a week to start.

Instead of someone on the west side having to drive to Newburgh for those events, they could just head to the new location.

As for the bigger picture, the hope is that this won't be Crossroad's only ministry center opening.

"If this is successful, we can kind of see how it evolves, that it might be something that could see reproduced in multiple places around our city. We want to be involved in this city. We want to have investment in meaningful ways and be good news to people. To have a location where we are accessible to those people who live in those parts of town, is really an important thing to us," Bussey said.

A north side location was specifically mentioned, though that all depends on how things go with the site on the west side.

Crossroads hopes the ministry center will be able to open sometime in April. They have to wait for the city of Evansville to take care of a sewer hook up first.
