With postseason tournaments approaching, the Darton golf team got a big boost.

The Cavaliers win their inaugural Doublegate Collegiate Classic in a windy final round on Tuesday at the Doublegate Country Club course.

Darton shot a 291 in the final round and finished with a two-day score of 583.

First round leader Wallace State-Hanceville finished five shots back in second and #2 Central Alabama Community College was third.

Darton's Taylor Martin shot a 69 to win the individual title at 140 and Parks Brown was tied for second.

"We've been good enough to win all year.  It just maybe took the comfort of being at home to make it happen. So, hopefully this will just boost their confidence and the rest of the season and the rest of the semester will be a little easier," said Darton coach Bill Jones.

The Andrew College golf team struggled but Timothy Blomdahl provided the shot of the tournament.

Blomdahl made a double-eagle at the par 5 15th hole.

"I threw my club away and I just screamed at to my co player or the one I was playing with. Its pretty cool. I've hit a hole in one before, but this is way cooler, " said Timothy Blomdahl.

Both the Darton and Andrew golf teams will play next week at the Goose Pond Colony Spring Fling tournament in Scottsboro, Alabama.
