Need help with paying for your prescriptions in Kentucky?

KENTUCKY (WFIE) -

The community access project is providing more than 3,000 prescriptions to low income Kentuckians.

The program is almost completely funded by local health offices in Union, Henderson, Daviess and Ohio Counties.

In the past seven months, the program has spent about $125,000 and in turn, has been able to provide more than$2.5 million in prescription drugs to local patients.

That's about a $21 return on investment and program officials say the success of the program echoes the demand by the uninsured and underinsured.

"They come in, asses the need, they have to have a prescription, they have to have that through a physician, but we will help them get that medication if they just can't get it," Director Deborah Fillman said.

Assistance could take between four and six weeks, so as soon as residents know they'll need the assistance, it's important to see the local health office.
