ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Before Deerfield-Windsor makes the big decision on whether to join the Georgia High School Association, the Knights want to do their homework.

The school has sent out a survey to parents to hear what they think before the Board of Trustees makes the final decision later this month.

The survey went out Monday night after Macon schools Stratford and Tattnall Square both decided to join the GHSA in the 2014-15 school year.

A third Macon school Mount de Sales voted in January to join the GHSA.

Headmaster Dave Davies says the survey wants to learn if parents support moving to the GHSA or if they will remove their children if Deerfield-Windsor does move.

Davies has maintained Deerfield-Windsor will not simply follow the Macon schools to the GHSA but some believe the Knights have no choice but to move since they are one of the few remaining large enrollment schools left in the GISA.

Davies says his survey of his head coaches shows they are split on joining the GHSA.

Parents have one week to fill out the surveys and the Deerfield-Windsor Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet in two weeks.

The deadline to apply to join the GHSA is April 1.
