House fire near downtown Evansville under investigation

The cause of an abandoned house fire near downtown Evansville is under investigation.

The fire broke out around 11:45 p.m. Monday night in the 900 block of  Judson Street.

That's near Washington Avenue and Governor Street.

Five crews responded and were able to put out the flames in about 30 minutes.

Officials on the scene tell us the vacant home did not have utilities hooked up and was scheduled to be town down.

According to a police report, the fire department has requested an arson report in the case.

No one was inside the house when firefighters arrived on scene and there were no injuries.
