ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The ball is now in Deerfield-Windsor's court when it comes moving to the Georgia High School Association.

The board of directors at Stratford Academy and Tattnall Square both approved recommendations Monday night for those two schools to leave the GISA.

The vote means all four large Macon private schools will now compete in the GHSA starting in the 2014-15 school year. 

First Presbyterian Day School joined the GHSA three years ago and Mount de Sales voted in January to also leave the GISA for the GHSA.

Monday's vote leaves Deerfield-Windsor for the moment as one of the last large enrollment schools remaining in the GISA.

Deerfield-Windsor headmaster Dave Davies is disappointed to lose two member schools. 

Though he called it an important piece of data when Deerfield-Windsor decides what it will do later this month. 

Davies says Deerfield-Windsor's decision will be made on what is best for the school's student athletes and literary students and not to blindly follow the Macon schools. 

One issue for Deerfield-Windsor is there are no GHSA private schools that are close to Albany.

The closest private schools competing in the GHSA are likely Brookstone and St. Anne-Pacelli in Columbus.

A second concern for Davies is the uncertain climate for private schools in the GHSA.

He says he is very concerned with talk the GHSA may do away with split championships for public and private schools at the Class A level as well as bringing back the multiplier for private school enrollment.

A multiplier could count the enrollment at private schools  1.5 times higher than it is which would make private schools play in higher classifications.

Deerfield-Windsor could likely be bumped to the AA level if they joined the GHSA and the multiplier rule was brought back.

Davies says the head coaches at Deerfield-Windsor are split on whether to join the GHSA.

DWS has a study group looking at the issue and they will likely report on the pros and cons of moving to the GHSA to the school's Board of Trustees.

Davies says he is leaning for having the study group to not make a recommendation to the board on how they should vote.

The next scheduled Deerfield-Windsor Board of Trustees meeting is March 21st.

Schools wishing to join the GHSA must apply by April 1.
