EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
Many people spent the morning at Wesselman Nature Preserve to wrap up this year's Maple Sugarbush Festival.
Festival-goers enjoyed pancakes with freshly-made maple syrup and listened to live folk music.
People at the festival learned how the sap for the syrup is tapped from trees and then had the chance to enjoy warm syrup on their breakfast food.
Wesselman Nature Society Executive Director John Foster says he's glad so many people had the chance to enjoy the unique event.
"It starts to get you to think about where all of your food comes from. You know, so many kids, they think well, it's the grocery store. That's the source of all food, and so to get people to think that way and to think about how their lives are benefited by the forest and impacted by the forest," Foster said.
The Maple Sugarbush Festival happens every year at Wesselman Nature Preserve.
