Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews have been out in KY counties overnight spreading salt with most of the effort focused on bridges and overpasses.
Highway pavement temperatures have generally held above freezing. However, wind cooled the decks of bridges and overpasses creating slick spots as heavier bands of snow moved through overnight.
Crews say they are starting to wind down their snow-fighting efforts Saturday morning as the ambient air temperature as started to move above 32 degrees and the snow showers have fallen off to snow flurries in most counties.
Crews will remain on alert should the temperature drop later in the day or snowfall increase causing slick spots to develop Saturday afternoon or evening.
Motorists are urged to use appropriate caution.
