Plans are underway for a new 4H Center in Chrisney, Indiana.
The President of the Spencer County 4H Association, Aaron Benton says the county commissioners granted the association $575,000 toward the estimated $1.2-million project.
Benton says that money comes from tax revenue, though the local tax burden will not increase as a result.
Benton says the new facility will have a 575-person seating capacity and will replace the current building which is over 40 years old.
Benton says additional funding for the project will come from fundraiser's and loans.
"With the new building being up here, centrally located in Chrisney, Indiana, in the middle of Spencer County, we're gonna be able to move our office up here for our county extension directors and the people that work with the extension and 4H every day," says Benton.
Construction is expected to begin in July.
