New festival "Fiesta Evansville" set to hit Downtown Evansville this September

A new cultural event is set to hit Downtown Evansville this September.

Fiesta Evansville will take place on Saturday 28th.

The Latino Advisory Committee is still planning the event, but organizers tell us it will be a colorful celebration of Latino culture.

Delegations, or groups of people from 12 different Latin American countries have confirmed they will be there.

You can expect a lot of music and dancing in the streets.

Maura Robinson, Abraham Brown, Alfonso Vidal, of the Latino Advisory Committee have been working on this event for years.

"The idea is there's going to be a lot of countries that come to showcase their culture," says Vidal.

Vidal says there will also be Mobile consulates from several different countries.

The festival will take place on Saturday the 28th, but it will be part of several cultural events that weekend.

On Friday, September 27th, there will be a Latino Summit. "We're going to learn how to do business with the Latinos and the Latino population," says Vidal.

Following the summit, HOLA, a non-profit Latino organization, will have it's annual Rumba Gala. It will take place at the Old Post Office, Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
