Hopkins Co. school superintendent retires

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Hopkins County School Superintendent James Stevens announced on Thursday, he's retiring.

Stevens has a 45-year career in education and has been superintendent since 2000.

Stevens says he cares deeply about the district but it was just time to go.

His contract doesn't expire until June of next year, but Stevens plans to retire no later than June 30 of this year.
