A new restaurant is heading to North Park Shopping Center.

The owner of the El Charro Mexican Restaurant tells 14 News he is opening another restaurant where the old Kipplee's used to be.

The owner says he's still waiting on state permits and a liquor license, so the new location should be open in the coming months.

The shopping center and North Park Village have several vacancies. Existing businesses say new leases mean more traffic and a better bottom line. Retailers say the Ruler Foods that opened last month has been good for business and one employee says the shopping district needs the attention.

"I think the new area is really going to revitalize North Park. I think it's going to bring in a lot of new business because sometimes it can get a little slow out here and I think bringing anything new in is awesome. I think it will really help out," said Premiere Tan Assistant Manager, Hope Fussner.

Officials with the North Park Merchants Association says they are working to finalize plans to fill more of the vacant properties.
