Two Henderson schools placed on "modified lockdown'

Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center and East Heights Elementary were placed on a modified lockdown on Wednesday.

Henderson County Police Department received an anonymous tip regarding a domestic disturbance dealing with a family whose children attend the Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center and East Heights Elementary.

The Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center and East Heights Elementary were placed on a modified lockdown for the remainder of the school day while the Henderson County Police Department investigated the situation.

A press release from the school said, "this is taking place with the best interest and safety of our students and staff in mind. A police officer is currently placed at each school."

The Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center's morning session was dismissed at regular time using their regular practice of "hand-to-hand" drop-off and pick-up.  

Principal Gibson placed a One Call to East Heights Elementary families at approximately 9:30 a.m.
