OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

On Tuesday night, around 9:50, a series of collisions in Owensboro caused serious injury to a man witnesses say was standing in the road.

31-year-old Christopher B. Gant was initially involved in a two vehicle non-injury accident with a white Ford pickup truck at the intersection of W. 24th Street and Frederica Street.

After the vehicles moved out of the intersection, Gant got out of his white Toyota passenger car and walked to the truck, which had stopped in the turning lane of Frederica Street.

Officials tell us that Gant was walking across the northbound lane of Frederica to talk to the person in the truck when he dropped some money. He bent to pick it up and was struck by a third vehicle, a green Pontiac passenger car.

Gant was taken by ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

There were no other injuries reported.
