Program kicks off in Henderson to get kids active and healthy

The "WE CAN" program kicks off in Henderson today.

It stands for "Ways to Enhance Children's Activity and Nutrition".

The goal is three-fold: improving food choices, increasing physical activity and reducing screen time.

A group of parents and children will meet at the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Education and Expo Center on Zion Road for four weeks.

It's an effort among several health agencies including the Green River District Health Department, Henderson Community College, Henderson County Diabetes Coalition, the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service and Methodist Hospital.
