Winter storm knocks out power across Mid-Michigan


The heavy snow falling across the area has caused some power outages Wednesday morning.

These are new numbers into the continuous news center. The hardest hit area is Saginaw County, where around 1,500 customers are without power.

There is a large outage in Saginaw County, between Taymouth and Spaulding Townships in the area of the Price Nature Center. That outage has over 1,000 customers offline.

Another area affected is south of the village of St. Charles, where less than 20 customers are in the dark on M-52.

Another pocket of outages has been reported in Bridgeport Township, between Portsmouth Road and the Dixie Highway.

In Isabella County, a pocket of outages is being reported in the area of M-20 and Coleman Road, near Oil City. Less than 20 customers in that area in the dark.

An area of Flushing that had an outage this morning has been wrapped up but a transformer is in the road and that has closed Potter Road between Morrish and Elms, just south of town.

Right now, DTE Energy says it has 25,000 customers in its service area.

Huron County has over 1,000 customers in the dark. There are a number of scattered outages near the town of Owendale. There are about 450 customers affected in that area. There is also a pocket of outages off of M-142, west of the town of Harbor Beach. About 29 customers are offline there.

168 DTE Energy customers are affected in an area near Otter Lake. They can expect restoration around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

57 customers are in the dark in an area just southwest of Caseville. Customers can expect restoration around 11 p.m.

Another outage is affecting customers near Deckerville. About 80 customers are in the dark. They can expect restoation around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

There is also a large outage northwest of the village of Croswell. About 425 customers are affected in that area. Another outage pocket is near Marlette. 31 customers are in the dark there. They should be offline until 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Crews are working to get everyone back up and running.
