OHIO CO., KY (WFIE) -

An Ohio County mom is resting in the hospital on Tuesday after giving birth to a healthy baby boy.

But, you'll never guess where she went into labor.

Donna Berry says babies in her family are born fast, but what she didn't know was how fast her daughter would give birth Monday afternoon.

Courtney Gregory was visiting her parents at their farm in Ohio County when she felt some pain.

"I've had a really bad cold the last few days. I started coughing a lot and I started cramping. I started thinking, it's just from me coughing," Courtney said.

She laid down hoping the cramping would stop, but they didn't let up. She was worried she might be going into labor so she downloaded an app on her cell phone to time her contractions.

"It said my contractions were two minutes and a half minutes apart. I was in stage two of active labor and that I needed to get to a hospital," Courtney said.

Courtney, her husband Bryan, and her mother jumped into her grandma's car and raced to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

Bryan called 911 and was on the phone with an ambulance that was heading towards them on the Natcher Parkway.

"While he was on the phone with the ambulance, my water broke in the car and that's when I stopped with the wishful thinking. We're not going to make it to the hospital," Courtney said.

Courtney's mother, Donna, says she tried to keep her daughter calm by singing songs until they met up with the ambulance in the median on the Natcher Parkway.

Courtney gave birth inside the ambulance to a 7lbs. 6oz. boy named Kyran Keith Gregory.

"Two pushes and he was out. We drove the rest of the way to the hospital," Courtney said.

While at the hospital Tuesday afternoon, a paramedic from the ambulance company that helped deliver the baby, made a visit to meet Kyran.
