The EVSC says a student brought a hollowed out grenade to school with them on Monday.
Marsha Jackson with the EVSC says the student went with their parents to a gun show, that's where they purchased a hollowed out grenade that had a visible hole in it.
On Monday, the student brought the item to Cedar Hall Community School to show to friends. When the school noticed, they called Evansville police. The bomb squad sent one officer to check it out.
EVSC says the police kept the fake grenade.
"The student is going through a disciplinary process," Jackson said.
The EVSC is asking parents to be aware of what their children are bringing to school. Weapons or look-alike items are not permitted in school.
