USI tracksters earn regional honors

University of Southern Indiana senior Michael Jordan (Indianapolis, Indiana) and freshman Johnnie Guy (Palmyra, Indiana) earned a pair of All-Midwest Region indoor track and field accolades in an announcement by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Monday.

Both earned All-Region honors for the 3,000 meters as well as the 5,000 meters.

Jordan, who ranks fifth nationally in the 3,000 meters and 16th in the 5,000 meters, earned two All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors this past weekend after winning the 3,000 meters and helping USI's distance medley relay team to a second-place finish at the conference meet.

Guy is 11th in the nation in the 5,000 meters after running a season-best time of 14 minutes, 28.89 seconds at the GLVC Championship. He earned GLVC Freshman of the Year honors and was second-team All-Conference in both the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters after placing second in the events at the league meet.

Both Jordan and Guy are expected to make the final cut for the NCAA II Indoor Championships, which are March 8-9 at the Division II Winter Sports Festival in Birmingham, Alabama.
