HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) -

A Lexington, KY driver died at the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Saturday morning in Hopkins County.

Hopkins County Sheriff's Office says the driver was traveling north on I-69 near the 99 mile marker a little after 6:00 a.m., when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a guard rail head on.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Hopkins County Coroner Dennis Mayfield. The driver's name has not yet been released.

Authorities had the northbound lane closed in that area for about an hour and half Saturday morning.
